Introduction to the city of Shenzhen

Shenzhen one of the wealthiest and youngest cities in China, which situated in east south of Guangdong province. Overlooking Hong Kong to the south and bordering Kowloon, this area is commonly referred to as Hong Kong’s “backyard”. The distance between Shenzhen and Hong Kong is 163km (102 miles) only.
Shenzhen covers an area of 2,020 square kilometers. Population of the city is about 5 million, only 1.5 million people are legally registered permanent residents. The climate is belongs to sub-tropical maritime, with the average temperature 22 degree.
In 1980, Shenzhen became the first Special Economic Zone in China under the guidelines of Mr. Deng Xiaoping. Then Shenzhen starts to grew overnight from nothing to metropolis. Because nearby Hong Kong SAR, it gives Shenzhen a very good geographical advantage for economic development. There are six districts in Shenzhen, including Luohu, Nanshan, Futian, Baoan, Longgang and Yantian. Futian, Luohu, Nanshan and Yantian districts are within the SEZ. Other districts are belong to Shenzhen county. The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is the business and financial heart of the city. Recent years, the county of Shenzhen has been exploited more and more, because the SEZ is too crowd. More and more factories move to other cities.
As an important foreign trade and international exchange port in China, Shenzhen made the brilliant achievements in the urban construction and boasts the city with a fine environment for both investment and tourism. Shenzhen has been elected as “Gardens city of State” and “the model city in environment protection”. In Nov 2000, it was awarded as “International Garden City” in Washington.
